The Orchard Middle School is sponsoring Start with Hello Week based on the Sandy Hook Promise. This is a special week designed to teach children how to be more inclusive and connected to each other. Start with Hello asks students, educators, parents and other community leaders who interact with children to take steps in class, the lunchroom and/or other times in their day to be inclusive and connected. Orchard Middle School will celebrate this starting Monday, Sept. 20th. Students will be encouraged to sit with someone new at lunch. Staff will provide support to help students connect with others during the week.
Monday:Hey Day - We will be passing out Start with Hello Week Nametags for students. We will encourage everyone to greet each other by name in the hallway, lunchroom or classroom.
Tuesday:Favorite Shirt Day - Students can wear their favorite shirt to help in conversation.
Wednesday:Hat Day - Students can their favorite hat to help spark conversation.
Thursday:Ask me about… - Students will fill out a label about something that is interesting and wear the label throughout the day to help with conversation. STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR A WHITE T-SHIRT FOR THE COLOR RUN.
Friday: Spirit Day - Students should wear Solon Spirit Wear.
**Students participating in Start with Hello events will earn points for their spirit team.
