Boys CC - Movin' On - Go Comets!

We live another week!  Moving on at any level of the state playoffs is a big accomplishment.  At this point in the season, nothing is gauranteed.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in to last week's effort.  Huge shout out to Coach Seifert for hosting last week's pasta party, what a wonderful venue.  Thank you as well to all of the parents who volunteered to serve at Friday night's dinner.  It also felt really good to see all of the parents and siblings who drove out to the fairgrounds to support the Comets regardless of whether your children were competing or not.  It takes a village!

The Comets finished third overall behind Hudson and Kenston High Schools.  Our third place finish, included the individual district title for senior, Chantz Visse.  Visse ran a lifetime personal record, 15:34.25, en route to winning the district.  His patience paid off tremendously, going out well behind the leaders who flew through the mile mark in 4:50.  Throughout the race Chantz continued to pick off tired runners who went out too quickly, setting himself up to outkick the leaders with five hundred meters go, winning the district by over two seconds.

It was a true team effort advancing to the regional championship next Saturday, three other Comets also turned in lifetime personal records in the Comets effort.  Special shout outs to Brian Finnerty (16:45.02), Aman Jain (17:01.75), and Nathan Close (17:20.72), very strong work!  If we are going to achieve the goals we set out for ourselves at the beginning of the season, we are going to have to continue growing over the next two weeks.

Focus: Winning

Our goals for the next two weeks are clear.  The deeper we move into the post season the smaller the room for error and the better our competition will get.  We are absolutely prepared for the next two weeks.  What is going to separate us from all of the other teams that want the exact same thing that we do is, how confident and calm do we stay early in the race?  And how aggressive do we finish?

OHSAA Northeast Ohio Regional Championship: Top five finish.

OHSAA State Championship at Hebron Raceway: Top ten finish.
