Student Artwork Selected for Governor's Art Exhibition
The creative talents of Solon High School juniors Adina Guo and Sara Wang are now on display in the 2021 Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.
Adina’s piece is one of only 59 chosen as a “cameo” winner and Sara’s work is included as one of 258 pieces selected for the overall exhibition. Typically, the cameo winners are displayed in the Governor’s Office and Ohio Department of Education and the exhibition artwork is displayed in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower across from the State Capitol. This year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the exhibition, displays and award ceremony are all virtual.
“I am so proud of these students; they both work so hard,” said Jennifer Thompson, Solon High School art teacher. “This is a very significant accomplishment. It is like winning a state championship in sports.”
This is the 51st annual Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. “The exhibition is a valuable incentive for our young people; it encourages an appreciation for the arts throughout Ohio and reflects the fine quality of art instruction and talent which exist in our state,” according to the exhibition website.
