Update on the Return from Spring Break

March 19, 2021

This week we had only one report of COVID-19 in our school community, bringing our total number of cases to only two for the month of March. We hope this trend of very low case reports continues.

So as we head into spring break and the four-day break the first weekend in April, we urge you to remain vigilant. Our case data has been so positive this month, please do your part to help keep that momentum going upon our return from the breaks.

Currently, there are no state guidelines for travel or travel-related quarantines. The Ohio Department of Health has discontinued weekly travel advisories. ODH encourages travelers to consult CDC guidelines and states: “Even as more individuals are vaccinated across the United States and in Ohio and testing availability continues to improve, travelers should still practice appropriate public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, and washing your hands.”

After consultation with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, we are not imposing a blanket quarantine for all travelers. This is in line with how most schools in our region are handling travel.

Instead, we are relying on all staff members, families and students to take the necessary steps to help continue protecting our school community and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 cases recurring in our schools.

We ask all of our families and staff members, whether you are traveling over the upcoming breaks or not, to redouble your commitment adhering to safety protocols and especially to daily symptom monitoring. For families, do not send a student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 to school. Consult with your health care provider for help in distinguishing seasonal allergy symptoms from COVID-19.

The CCBH supports this approach and underscores the need for all individuals, including those who are traveling, to monitor for symptoms and adhere to the important mitigation practices of social distancing and wearing masks.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable spring break. We look forward to seeing our students back on March 29.
