Comets Score First Win at Home vs Euclid
The Comets Boys Varsity Soccer Team scored their first home win of the year on Tuesday against Euclid. The 8-0 win featured many beautiful scoring plays from a variety of Comets' players. The win was also Comets Head Coach Ryan Greenhill's first win at home in his coaching career. There will be many more wins to come for Greenhill.
The Comets dominated play from the opening kick off and Coach Greenhill was able to get everyone into the game including a few JV players. Several Comets scored their first Varsity goals of the season. Comets players making it onto the scorers' sheet include:
- Senior Forward Drake Perry with two goals and one assist.
- Junior Midfielder Chuckie Frend with two goals and one assist.
- Freshman Midfielder Billy Furlong with one goal and two assists.
- Sophomore Forward Danny Myeroff with one goal and one assist.
- Sophomore Defender David Tan with one goal.
- Sophomore Midfielder Ethan Braun with one goal.
- Junior Caleb Ogan with one assist.
On the other end of the field, the Comet defense held the Panthers to no shots on goal. Senior Goalkeeper John Lombardo and Sophomore Goalkeeper Isaac Lieber combined for the shutout.
Prior to the game, both teams remembered Euclid Panthers Football Player Andre Jackson, who passed away on Sunday. Andre was honored with a moment of silence after both teams were announced and before the singing of the National Anthem.
Earlier in the day, the JV Comets scored a 5-0 win over the JV Shaker Heights Raiders.
The Varsity Comets are in action at 2pm on Saturday as they continue their postponed game against Twinsburg, with the Tigers up 1-0, ten minutes into the first half. Come out and support the Comets this weekend.
