SOLON HIGH SCHOOL AMONG TOP U.S. STEM HIGH SCHOOLS
Reflecting the opportunities for students in science, technology, engineering and math, Solon High School has been named to the Newsweek Top STEM High Schools list for 2020. SHS is ranked #3 in Ohio and #156 among high schools nationwide for providing STEM experiences and preparing students for post-secondary pathways.
Newsweek collaborated with STEM.org on the extensive ranking methodology, which used qualitative and quantitative data from 2015-2019, to compile the 2020 list of America’s Top STEM High Schools.
“America is a nation of entrepreneurs and innovators, and our economic vitality and national security depend on our sustaining that vibrant culture. Science, technology, engineering, mathematics—these are the fields in which our children need to be fluent,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek’s global editor in chief, in announcing the 2020 list of Top STEM High Schools. “That's why Newsweek, with its long history of reporting on scientific breakthroughs, technological revolutions and societal challenges, partnered with STEM.org to rank America's Best STEM High Schools. We found schools in every region of the country that offer skilled teachers who keep up with developments in these fields and who create dynamic learning environments to engage their students.
“The STEM skills that only specialists have today will be expected of virtually everyone in the American workforce tomorrow,” Ms. Cooper continued. “With high-profile institutions in big urban areas and small but strong programs across the nation, America's future in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is in good hands.”
