Welcome to the Solon Organized Parent Education Network!
To our families of students with special needs:
The Ohio Department of Education in partnership with The Ohio State University is conducting an annual survey of families. Solon was selected to participate in the survey for this year. Please find below the invitation to participate in the survey. To use the QR code instead of the link, open the pdf file inserted at the conclusion of the invitation.
Dear Parent or Guardian,
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) would like to invite you to participate in a short, 25 question survey about your involvement in your student’s education. Research suggests that parental involvement is a key predictor of positive educational outcomes. You may be eligible to participate if your child has an IEP and receives special education services. The purpose of collecting this information is to improve services for students with disabilities across Ohio. If you are eligible to participate and you enroll in the study, you will be entered in a drawing for several $50 Amazon gift cards. Your chance of winning a gift card is approximately 2.0%. Please click on this link https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8xj6a3rJ8hUevNH or use the QR (Quick Response) code (see below) to find out more about the survey and if you are eligible.

SOLON’S ORGANIZED PARENT EDUCATION NETWORK (OPEN)
Due to COVID-19, Solon’s OPEN has made the difficult decision to temporarily delay the start of the 2020-2021 Donna Boss Lecture Series. We are actively planning for future webinars and in-person events to be held when the situation permits.
Please join our Solon O.P.E.N. (Organized Parent Education Network) Facebook community to stay up-to-date on event scheduling and news from the Solon Parent Mentor!
NEWS FROM THE PARENT MENTOR
Hi, I'm Annie Dellamorte, the district's Parent Mentor. I am a member of the district’s Special Education staff responsible for providing families of students with disabilities additional resources, guidance, and support as we navigate Solon’s Special Education system.
I am a FREE and confidential resource - provided to you through a grant from the Ohio Department of Education - here to help you learn to better advocate for your child, to facilitate communication between you and school personnel, and to answer any questions that may arise.
This year, I will be offering Virtual Office Hours: Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. These open hours are a time for you to connect with Annie Dellamorte virtually, ask any questions you may have, and discuss any concerns which may have arisen. I will have no agenda and no set plans. As always, if these office hours are not convenient for you, I am happy to make appointments at other times throughout the week.
