The Solon Schools annual Quality Profile is a comprehensive community-oriented companion report to the State of Ohio School Report Cards. The Quality Profile details additional accountability indicators that more completely define a high-quality public education.
The Quality Profile demonstrates the depth and breadth of the excellent educational program provided in Solon and reflects the values and goals outlined in the district’s mission and Strategic Plan. Specifically, the Quality Profile outlines results in the following categories:

Our mission calls for all stakeholders in the Solon Schools to ensure students attain the knowledge and skills to succeed and become contributing, ethical citizens in a global society. The Quality Profile illustrates how Solon students are meeting that bar with the help and encouragement of our staff, parents and the community.
The Solon Schools were named the #2 Public School District in America for 2019 by the community and academic rating organization Niche.com.
Solon earned the state of Ohio’s #1 school report card for student achievement in 2018, the fourth consecutive year Solon students earned the state's top marks.
The Solon Schools have received the #1 education ranking from Cleveland Magazine for an unprecedented 10 consecutive years.
Solon High School is one of only 19 schools in Ohio – and three in Northeast Ohio – to earn a Gold Medal Best rating in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.
Demonstrating Solon students’ success in AP science, math, engineering and computer science classes, SHS is the top-ranked Ohio school on the U.S. News Best STEM Schools list, ranking #24 in the nation this year. No other Ohio school is in the top 50 nationally.
Solon High School had 19 National Merit Finalists, 32 National Merit Commended Scholars and 3 National Hispance Scholars in the class of 2018. With 54 students honored by National Merit, Solon has among the highest number of students recognized in Ohio and the nation.
All Solon Schools received U.S.D.A. Bronze Awards for excellence in school nutrition and physical education.
Solon’s robust AP program saw 796 students take 1,860 AP exams in 2018. Students earned a score of 3, 4 or 5 on 1,619 of those exams, earning students valuable college credits.
Solon students’ average ACT scores rated highly in 2018– Composite: 25.7, English: 25.5, Math: 256.5.
Solon studens’ average SAT scores also increased 2018 – English/Reading/Writing: 647, Math: 666.
Solon High School students can choose from more than 140 courses, including 27 different AP classes: AP Capstone, Art History, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics 1 & 2, Comparative Government, Economics, European History, Psychology, U.S. Government, U.S. History, World History, English Language, English Literature, Calculus AB & BC, Computer Science, Computer Science Principles, Statistics, Chinese, French, Spanish, 2-D Design, Music Theory and Studio Art.
World languages offered – Spanish, French, Chinese and American Sign Language.
Five Solon seniors were named Presidential Scholar candidates in 2018.
Solon High School Presidential Scholars: 1990, 1995, 2003, 2007, 2009 and 2012.
Money Magazine ranked Solon #10 on its 2015 list of Best Places to Live. These communities are “places with great jobs, strong economies, affordable homes, excellent schools and that something special that makes it a great place to live.
