Children who turn 5 after August 1 may be eligible for early entrance assessment in accordance with state law and district policy.
In rare cases, children who are not yet 5 by the deadline demonstrate advanced academic skills, personal development, and emotional maturity. However, few children meet the rigorous criteria for early entrance.
Families of children turning 5 after August 1 should plan for preschool or childcare during the 2025-26 school year and expect kindergarten entry in fall 2026.
To request early entrance for 2025-26, families must:
- Submit the Early Entrance Interest Form between March 1–31, 2025
- Complete online registration using the Early Entrance Code: EEK2526
- Ensure registration is completed and approved before May 1 for testing to be scheduled (submitted by March 14 for home school placement consideration)
Assessment Overview
Early entrance is a form of grade acceleration. Families should consider how this decision may affect their child’s long-term school experience.
The assessment evaluates:
- Intellectual ability (IQ)
- Kindergarten readiness skills
- Social and emotional maturity (attention span, independence, cooperation, ability to follow directions and interact with others)
