Power of the Pen

  • Power of the Pen is an interscholastic writing club. Students compete at the district, regional, and state level in creative writing. At the tournaments, students have to write a story in response to a prompt within 40 minutes and are judged on their creativity and overall quality of writing. Students at Solon Middle School may be a part of the club or try out for the competitive team. The teams consist of 6 seventh graders and 6 eighth graders. Practices are held weekly after school beginning in late October and the season runs until late May. Competitions are typically in February (District), March (Regional), and May (State).
