Below are the Alignments for each grade!
Kindergarten:
Skills: picnh pots, cut on a straight and curved line, hold and use: pencil, marker, crayon, paintbrush, Glue: brush, bottle, stick
Identifying Elements: line- horizontal and vertical, color- primary and secondary, shape- geometric
Identifying Art: portrait, landscape, still life, real vs. imaginary
Responding to Art: explain art work verbally through selected elements of art (line, shape, color)
verbally share something they like about their art work and something they would change
1st Grade:
Skills: use rulers, multiple sized brushes, pinching, pulling and textured clay
Identifying Elements: build on knowledge of color and begin to accurately mix color, introduce warm and cool colors, texture- applied and actual
Identifying Art: understanding 2-D vs. 3-D, show an understanding of realistic vs. abstract
Responding to Art: explain art work verbally using selected elements of art (line, shape, color), verbally share something they like about their art work and something they would change
2nd Grade:
Skills: expanding painting techniques and materials, measurements using rulers, developing drawing skills: application and use of variety of materials, coil, slip and score, sealing clay
Identifying Elements: understand organic and geometric shapes
Identifying Art: understand how art is used to express differences in cultures through history
Responding to Art: explain art work through writing and focusing on selected elements of art (color, line, shape)
compare ideas expressed in their own art work in the works of others
3rd Grade:
Skills: introducing new materials: charcoal, chalk, ebony pencils, brayers/printmaking, weaving, slab additive
Identifying Elements and Principles: expand on value ( light and dark, tints and shades), identify horizon line (space), movement and balance
Identifying Art: understand how different art movements influence and effect art history
Resonding to Art: respond and interpret the art works of others, set personal goals for their art work
4th Grade:
Skills: developing printmaking skills- reductive printmaking, completing art with a higher level of craftmanship, advanced hand building techniques and glaze
Identifying Elements and Principles: atmospheric perspective, horizon line and vanishing point, facial proportion
Identifying Art: careers in art, functions of art (fiber, graphic arts, architecture, etc.), understand how different art movements influence and effect art history
Responding to Art: respond and interpret the art work of others, set personal goals for their art work
Technology: chrome books for research, using google classroom for certain projects
