Welcome to music at Lewis Elementary School!
COVID-19 CLOSURE INFORMATION: Lesson slides and materials will be posted to my HELPFUL DOCUMENTS page one week at a time. I will use FLIPGRID to allow us to share videos and music easily together. Access links for my "grids" are in the slides. You can read more about FLIPGRID here to help you get started. You do not need to download or subscribe to anything, just enter your child's solonschools.net email address. During the week of 4/6/20 please login, explore this fun new platform, and try to submit a video greeting. Future lessons will feature more interactive content and guided lesson material posted to FLIPGRID. Please remember that with over 540 students at Lewis, it may take me some time to respond to video recordings, but I will always respond!
Lewis music students will use their voices, bodies and instruments to discover, create and perform music. As active music makers, we will experience music physically, visually and aurally and will build on our current understanding of music concepts and skills.
Fourth grade students may choose to take violin rather than general music if they plan to be in orchestra when they reach fifth grade. Information about the violin program is sent home each year during the first week of school. Third grade students will play recorder for the second half of the school year. Information is sent home about recorders after winter break.
