Welcome to Solon Middle School. We hope that your two years with us will be educationally profitable for you. Solon Middle School is a special place with warm and friendly teachers, students, parents, and staff, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be your principal. I believe in working collaboratively with all stakeholders to continue the success Solon Middle School has worked so hard to achieve over the years.
Middle School is a time of change. The workload and social adjustments are more intense here than at the elementary level. Our goal is to prepare students to become productive citizens of our community and world.
Our school consists of approximately 750 seventh and eighth graders with diverse backgrounds. We provide an environment that is inclusive, understanding, and safe for all students. We strategically use instruction through a variety of learning experiences to meet individual needs. Students take the core subjects (Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies), music course (Choir, Band or Orchestra), world language (Chinese, French, or Spanish), and varied experiential elective classes (Family/Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, Studio Art, Digital Art, Physical Education, Health, Financial Literacy, College and Career Readiness, DARE, and STEM). Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to produce well-rounded, respectful citizens in society.
Solon Middle School also offers a full complement of extra-curricular activities, including sports, music ensembles, academic organizations, and clubs, through which students can develop their talents and passions. We encourage all students to participate in these activities to promote individual growth, teamwork, skill-building, and positive socialization.
Our school is committed to creating a safe environment for all students and staff, respecting differences in other peoples' customs and cultures. We want our students to work hard individually and as a classroom community to achieve an environment where everyone feels valued and believes they can succeed. Every aspect of teaching is designed to build a positive relationship with students. Lessons are targeted to meet learners' individual needs and abilities. Our teachers have fun with students and enjoy learning side by side with the students.
Our partnership with our families and community is an integral part of the success of Solon Middle School.
We look forward to working with all of you and your child in these critical years of school.
Win today. And every day. Relationships matter!
