    Excel TECC Bus Route Information

    August 2023:

We are looking forward to the start of the school year and safely transporting your Solon student each day. Bus routes will be emailed to families beginning with K-4 on Tuesday, August 8, and 5-12 on Wednesday, August 9.

Please note the following procedures and safety reminders:

    • Please be sure your child arrives at the bus stop five minutes prior to the published stop time. During the first week of school, your child’s bus driver will assign a designated point of safety to wait for the bus near the stop. These designated points of safety are required by law. Once the designated point of safety is assigned, students should be at that location five minutes prior to the stop time.

    • Our drivers have completed their practice runs. The stop locations listed below meet the safety requirements for bus stops in accordance with Ohio regulations and Solon Schools’ policy. Requests for stop location changes cannot be granted.

    • Please be sure your address is clearly marked on your mailbox so the driver is able to see it easily.

    • Bus passes for play dates or to go to another student’s home after school are not possible.

    • For safety, family members are not permitted to get on the bus or impede the progress of the bus in any way. If you have questions about bus transportation, please contact our Transportation Department at transportation@solonboe.org.

All Solon students in grades K-8 and most high school students who live more than 1 mile from school are eligible to ride the bus.

Our routes are created based on the students who will actually be riding. Only students who opted-in for bus transportation for this year were assigned stops and seats on the bus. Stop locations and the distances to the bus stops have been determined based on where students live along the route and are consolidated to enable us to continue providing the same level of transportation as we have in the past for the students and families who need it. Your child is assigned to the stop closest to your home.

    Bus stop distance from home:

    • Grades K-4 = up to .175 mile

    • Grades 5-8 = up to .275 mile

    • Grades 9-12 = up to .3 mile

Kindergarten: Parents, guardians or designated caregivers of kindergarten students must be present at the bus stop to receive their students after school (unless the student is being transported to a day care location).

Pick-up and drop-off locations: Students may have only 1 stop in addition to their home in the morning and afternoon. This includes day care locations.

If you signed up for bus transportation and no longer need your child to ride the bus OR if you feel you are missing bus information, please contact our Transportation Department right away at transportation@solonboe.org. Our focus is on our routes and student safety. Please use email instead of calling the office for the quickest response.

Remember, routes will run more slowly than usual the first few days of school. Thank you for your support!
