    September News

We have been so busy in kindergarten learning our routine, learning rules, making friends and just plain old working hard!!
The beginning of the year is filled with many opportunities to use names as stepping stones for learning about letters and words. We use our class names in many games and learning activities throughout the day.
Rhyming and phonological awareness activities are a major part of September activities. These are the first steps toward learning to read and write. Please! Please! Please! Play rhyming games and read those Nursery Rhymes as much as possible. As a well known author, Mem Fox says, "Rhymers will be readers."
September is filled with much assessing. It is during these weeks that I will learn where each child is on their learning path. Once the assessing is complete I can differentiate instruction for all children in the areas of literacy and math.
I hope your child is enjoying school as much as I have enjoyed learning about each and every one of these super kiddos.
