Solon Middle School is a dynamic institution with an outstanding staff that strongly believes that all students can learn and thrive in an educationally rich environment. The staff continually explores educational theory and best practice to allow students to reach their full potential and achieve their personal best. With the support of the Board of Education, administration, teaching staff, and families, we are able to provide an environment conducive to learning and growth.

Solon Middle School currently has enrolled 875 seventh and eighth grade students of diverse cultural backgrounds. Our mission is to prepare all of these students for the next century. In a nurturing environment, we provide challenging curriculum, meaningful instruction, and a variety of learning experiences to meet their needs. To maximize learning for all students, we also provide a schedule that allows our eight academic teams to exercise a variety of scheduling options which include traditional schedules, block schedules, additional time and support in core content area classes as well as many intervention and enrichment opportunities.

Both the seventh and eighth grade students actively engage in learning in the four major content areas: math, English, science, and social studies along with physical education and health for eighth grade students and unified arts for seventh grade students. Also, all students participate in foreign language and have the opportunity to take elective classes.

Our staff, comprised of 60 full-time and 7 part-time personnel, is committed to students and their learning. We recognize the individual differences in our students and through instruction and lesson design provide learning experiences that best meet students' needs and abilities. Our teachers have a rich understanding of their subject matter, have carefully aligned instruction to Ohio Academic Content standards, and continually use data from a variety of assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction as needed. Also we explore ways to link that subject matter to other disciplines and work collaboratively to improve students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that all students are better prepared for the next century.

To further students’ growth experiences, we encourage them to actively participate in Solon Middle School's many clubs, organizations, and athletic activities. We believe that students benefit not only socially but also emotionally, when they take a special interest in their school and become involved with extracurricular activities.
