Summer Reading: Don't Experience a Summer Slide!Friday, June 05, 2015
All Solon students are encouraged to read over the summer. There are specific requirements and suggestions for all grade levels.
It is important to have fun and engage in creative activities over the summer break, but maintaining reading is critical to continued academic growth and achievement.
> Students in grades K-4 should read at least 500 minutes this summer. A summer reading calendar is posted below and on each elementary home page to help students track their minutes.
> Students in grades 5-6 should read at least 1,000 pages this summer.
> Students in grades 7-8 must read at least one fiction and one non-fiction book of their own choosing.
> Students in grades 9-12 should read books of their own choosing as well as the required readings for individual classes as posted on the SHS site. Please be sure to check back at the end of June for specific assignments that may accompany high school readings.
Have a great summer and happy reading!
