18 Solon High seniors are commended by National Merit Scholarship Program

9/30/2004

Joining their nine classmates who were recognized as national Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists earlier this month, 18 Solon High School seniors this week were recognized as Commended Students in the 2005 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The commended Solon students are: Adam Bak, Thomas Bohn, Ilene Cohan, Shannon Corrigan, Alana Dashefsky, Kelly Gould, Nicholas Johnson, Kristen Koch, Britta Kumley, Stephen Peshek, Paul Rotella, Adam Siena, Akshai Singh, Christopher Sparks, Ian Spreat, Justin Stuart, Daniel Takacs and Felix Yuan.

The 18 Solon seniors are among 34,000 commended students nationwide whose scores placed them among the top 5% of the more than 1 million students who were eligible for the 2005 competition because they took the 2003 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The 27 Solon High students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program this month is the same number so honored during the 2004 competition, again ranking Solon among the top school districts in the area and the state for total number of National Merit Scholarship honorees. The nine National Merit Semi-Finalists are Elyssa Campbell, Xiaoxi Feng, Ahmil Jilani, Dmitri Kourennyi, Divya Narendra, Elizabeth Nelson, Noah Rahman, Matthew Schwartz and Yu Wang.
