Element Blueprint

Research an element and explain how to build it from the nucleus outward and state its properties and uses.

Evaluation: Your final project will be a PowerPoint presentation saved as a web page.  This will need to be turned in electronically and presented in class.  The evaluation will be based upon the following criteria:

Each number should be a separate slide

  1. Title page

  1. Atomic number, nucleus picture (with protons)

  1. Mass number, what is it; how many neutrons in your element, nucleus picture (with protons and neutrons)

  1. Electrons, how many and explain why, electron orbitals, picture (add to previous picture of nucleus)

  1. Properties of your element (ie. Radius, electronegativity, boiling/melting point, phase at room temperature, density comparison to water, metal/nonmetal/metalloid, etc.)

  1. Uses for the element

      7.   What if Questions & Answers: (this may be on

            one or more slides)

Develop questions and answers dealing with changes in the number of electrons, protons, neutrons; pictures may or may not be used.

* We EXPECT transitions, font changes, background changes, pictures etc., not necessarily with each slide (unless stated), but throughout the presentation.
