Find a suitable image on the internet. You may also use a digital camera.

 

Right-click the image and save it as a file in your directory, My Documents, on a disk, or on your desktop.

 

Download the Microsoft Publisher template from http://www.solonschools.org/SHS/TLCF/Mathematics/Slope/grid.pub

 

Find your file and double-click.

 

Choose Insert > Picture > From a File and insert your picture.

 

Click on the + or – in the menubar until the document is 100%.

 

Make sure that your picture is selected (it should have 8 small black squares or “handles” displayed).

 

Choose Arrange > Send to Back.

 

Click on the line tool on the left tool bar.

 

Draw a line that best represents the rise of your slope. Note that the line will snap to the underlying grid. If you are not happy with your line, press the delete key and start again

 

Choose a thick line from the line thickness tool in the toolbar.

 

Choose a bright contrasting color from the line color tool.

 

Draw a line that best represents your run.

 

Format the line to match the one you created in step XX.

 

Complete the triangle with a third line. Use a different color than your rise and run lines.

 

Count the grid units for your rise and run lines.

 

Use the text tool to add the rise and run lengths to your drawing.

 

When you are happy with your labeled picture, magnify it with the + tool until it just fills the screen.

 

Hold down the Alt key and press the Print Screen button. Alt + Print Screen will take a screen snapshot of “screen dump” of whatever is on your computer screen.

 

Open Microsoft Powerpoint.

 

Choose Edit > Paste to paste your new image onto a slide.

 

Right-click on the picture and choose “Show Picture Toolbar.”

 

Select the crop tool from the picture tool bar.

 

Carefully pull in the white handles to eliminate (crop) the portions of your picture that your do not want to display.

 

Choose File > Save to create a web page from your presentation. Name your file “LastNameSlope.” (Use your last name).
