Project/Task:

Students will be presented with a real world problem and will create a multimedia-enhanced presentation that makes connections using extrema of polynomial functions, solving equations, writing proportions and graphing polynomials.

Assessment:

Traditional:  quizzes, daily homework assignments, study guides, class participation, portfolio and exam.

PBL:  multimedia-enhanced, web based, nonlinear presentation, assessed according to multimedia rubric

Learning Strategies:

1.    Discuss Pythagorean theorem applications.

2.    Discuss the significance of modeling real world problems involving polynomial functions.

3.    Periodic assessment:  quizzes, study guides, board work, etc.

4.    Graphing calculator activities.

5.    Introduce PBL unit
