Our mission is to promote, recognize, and reward academic achievement

at Solon High School.

 

 

Student Recognition Programs

 

Rising Star - Students are recognized for academic efforts (1 student/class each grading period). Students are rewarded with lunch and certificates signed by their nominating teachers.

Academic Awards - A recognition assembly is held for students maintaining a 3.5 or above grade point average for each of two consecutive semesters at Solon High School. Students are awarded Solon High School Academic Letters, personalized Plaques, and Solon High School Photo Albums.

Strive For .5 - Students are recognized for an improved grade point average of .5 or more from one grading period to another. After the second and third grading period students are rewarded with lunch (Max & Erma's sandwiches) and certificates. After the fourth grading period students are rewarded with hair cut/style coupons (John Robert's Hair Studio) and certificates.

National Merit Scholars - National Merit commended and semi-finalist students are taken to lunch with the principal and assistant principals.

Academic Teams - A recognition assembly is held for students participating on competitive academic teams. Certificates and plaques are awarded and team pictures are taken.

Exemplary Attendance – Senior students with four years of exemplary attendance are taken to breakfast with the principal and assistant principals at Bob Evan's Restaurant.

Graduation Medals – Senior students attaining an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 and above for seven semesters receive engraved medals to wear at graduation.

Scholarships - Academic, engineering, and vocational scholarships are awarded to seniors.

Funds for these programs are raised through our membership drive, curriculum night bake sale, sale of local grocery gift certificates and book sales made through the Solon High School bookstore
