The Lady Comets are back in action tonight as they host Holy Name. The team dropped a pair of road matches last week. Solon was stung by both Medina 5-0, and Brecksville 3-1. The lone goal came from senior Taylor Goldberg on Saturday night.

The JV fared a bit better battling to a 1-1 tie against Brecksville. Freshman Madison Hill scored in the contest. Earlier in the week they lost to Medina 4-0.

Both teams look to get back in the win column as they host Holy Name on Monday. JV plays at 5. Varsity at 7.

The Women’s Soccer team played two important conference games this past week with very different results. Last week, it was a hard fought 0-0 tie against Brunswick. The Comets defensive line led by senior Sam Slagle turned back numerous Blue Devil scoring threats. Keeper Jane Sensibaugh was once again outstanding in the net. Last night, the offense exploded for an 8-0 win over Elyria. Sophomores led the way again in scoring as Jessica Schneider and Courtney Goldberg each added a pair of goals while Mari Silvestri scored once. Junior Jane Sensibaugh, seniors Avery Adelstein and Taylor Goldberg added to the total.

The Women’s JV defeated Brunswick 4-0. Solon controlled much of the game and capitalized on their opportunities to secure the W! Scoring for the Comets were freshmen Madison Hill (2), Miranda Carlton and Sammi Rinicella.

Come out and support the team this weekend as they take on the visiting Warren Howland on Saturday evening. JV at 5 pm. Varsity at 7pm.

The Solon Women’s soccer team battled Shaker to a scoreless tie in a Greater Cleveland Conference matchup. Junior Jane Sensibaugh recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Comets. The JV team fought to a 0-0 tie as well.

Solon hosts conference opponent Brunswick on Wednesday. JV kicks off at 5pm and Varsity at 7pm.

The Lady Comets started the 2015 campaign with a 3-0 win over Madison. Sophomores led the way with goals from Cate Mandry, Jessica Schneider, and Katie Kramer. On Wednesday the girls battled defending state champions Walsh Jesuit but came up short in a 0-1 loss. Junior keeper Jane Sensibaugh was outstanding while recording 11 saves. On Saturday they lost 0-2 at Hudson.

The JV finds itself 1-2 as well. Monday they recorded an 8-0 win over Madison. Losses to Walsh, 0-4, and Hudson 0-1 rounded out the week.

Next up the Lady Comets travel to Shaker Heights, on Wednesday, JV at 4 Varsity at 6.
