The comets lost for the first time in conference Friday night to Stow 63-57. The loss drops the comets in to a tie for first with Hudson. Both teams are 4-1 at the midway point.

The team fell behind 9 points in the second quarter and was never able to regain the lead. Reid Thompson kept the team close all night with 30 points including 25 in the second half. Jason Steele led the team with 10 assists and Thompson added 7 rebounds to lead the team.

Solon is back in action Tuesday night at home as they host Brunswick.

The Comets lost in overtime 52-51 at Willoughby South Tuesday Night. Reid Thompson and Evan Poindexter led the team in scoring with 13 each. Tim Harmody contributed 12 rebounds and Jason Steele led the team with 6 assists. The boys will be back on the floor at home Friday night against the Stow Bulldogs.

Kenston defeated Solon Saturday night by a score of 59-35. The Bombers took a six point lead into half and took control of the game in the third outscoring Solon 25-5. The loss drops Solon to 5-5 (4-0) on the season. Come support the team Tuesday as they travel to take on 10-1 Willoughby South.

Jason Steele hit a foul shot with less than a second to go to give Solon a 42-41 win over rival Twinsburg. Trailing by 8 with 3 minutes to go the team never gave up. Sparked by Reid Thompson and Evan Poindexter the comets made a run to tie the game up at 41. Mateo Dillard took at charge with 8 seconds left to give the possession back to Solon. That's when Jason Steele went the length of the court and got fouled shooting a layup with under a second to play. Jason hit the first of two to give Solon the win. Reid Thompson led the team with 18 points and 7 rebounds.


Saturday, January 10, 2015

The comets bounced back and got their third conference win of the season 47-26 over Cuyahoga Falls Friday night. The win improved Solon to 4-3 on the season and 3-0 in the conference. Solon road a strong defensive effort to hold Falls to 8 first half points and an 11 point halftime lead. They closed the game by holding the tigers to 4 fourth quarter points. Solon was led by Reid Thompson's 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Solon boys fell to a tough Shaker Heights team on the road 67-51. The team battled all night but could not overcome a slow second quarter. The comets were led by Reid Thompson's 14 points and 5 rebounds. The team returns home Friday night to play Cuyahoga Falls.

The Solon boys competed over the break in the Brunswick Holiday Tournament going 0-2. Solon dropped their opening round game 57-43 to Lexington High School and fell in the consolation game to Rhodes high school 63-49. The losses drop Solon to 3-2 (2-0 NOC) on the season. Ryan Guest led the way for the comets scoring 26 points over the two games and earned all tournament honors. The boys are back in action January 6th at Shaker Heights for a triple header with games starting at 4:30, 6:00 and 7:30.

The boys basketball team team traveled to Brush Friday night and came away with a 61-59 victory. Solon was led by Sincere Carry's 25 points and 5 assists. Sincere scored 21 of his 25 in the second half including the go ahead basket with seven seconds remaining. Evan Poindexter contributed 11 points and Zack Lesko added 10 points and 8 rebounds. The win improved Solon's record to 3-0 (2-0 in conference play). The comets next play 12/29 against Lexington High School at 6:00 at the Brunswick Holiday Tournament. JV game at 3:00
