All football players are welcome to take a break from all of this snow and cold this evening. We will have the Weight Room open from 5:00 to 6:30p and then will go to the main gym to support our Boys Basketball Team taking on Twinsburg.

John Sensibaugh and OSU Head Coach Urban Meyer
Solon's own, John Sensibaugh, was honored last evening by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association as the Player of the Year in the State of Ohio for all divisions. The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association annually presents the Art Teynor Award to the outstanding football player in Ohio. Art Teynor was a long-time member of the OHSFCA Board of Trustees and a past president of the OHSFCA from Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School. The award is named for Art to help keep his name alive in Ohio high school football. Congratulations John Sensibaugh - Way to GO COMET!

Former Comet and Solon 2012 graduate Cory Stuart earned Academic All Pioneer Football League (PFL) for this past season at the University of Dayton. In his first season as a starter, Stuart's 35 receptions were third on the team. He averaged 10.9 yards a catch and also had three touchdowns, which was second for the Flyers. He carries an impressive 3.83 as a pre-physical therapy major. Congratulations Cory - Way to Go Comet!Resources: Stuart Academic All PFL

The #14 Solon Comets have advanced to the 2014 OHSAA Football Playoffs for the 19th time in school history and will take on the #3 Westerville Central Warhawks in a Division I, Region 1 game on Saturday night. The Comets travel to Warhawk Stadium for the second time in as many years for a playoff contest. Solon finishes the year at 6-4 after a 34-0 loss at Brunswick last week. The Westerville Central Warhawks are 9-1 on the year and finished in second place in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division. Last week, Central was victorious over Dublin Jerome, 49-28.

The Solon Comets hit the road this week for the final game of the 2014 regular season. Solon (6-3, 2-2) will visit Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium at Brunswick High School to take on the Blue Devils (6-3, 2-2). Solon enters the tenth week of the season after a 28-7 win over Twinsburg last week at Stewart Field. Brunswick went to Strongsville and defeated the Mustangs, 27-14. Playoff standings are on the line for both squads in this Valley Division showdown.
Solon’s JV and Freshman teams were both in action last week against Twinsburg. The JV team lost in a close game to the Tigers, 26-24. The Freshman were successful against Twinsburg, taking down the Tiger Freshman, 24-12. This week, both teams will go against Brunswick. The Freshman are scheduled for a 4:30p kick on Thursday at Solon, while the JV’s will take on the Blue Devils on Saturday at Stewart Field. That game will be at 10:00a.

The Solon Comets will be back at Stewart Field on Friday night to face a 1-7 Twinsburg Tiger team. Friday will be the last home game of the 2014 regular season. Solon enters Week Nine with a record of 5-3, after a loss at Mentor last Friday night, 42-16.
Solon’s JV and Freshman squads were both defeated by Mentor last week. The JV’s lost 35-16 and the Freshman were defeated by a score of 28-25. This week, both teams will be in action against Twinsburg. The Freshman team will travel to Twinsburg on Thursday for a 4:30p game and the JV’s will also travel to Twinsburg on Saturday for a 10:00a kickoff.
