The Solon Comets will be back at Stewart Field on Friday night to face a 1-7 Twinsburg Tiger team. Friday will be the last home game of the 2014 regular season. Solon enters Week Nine with a record of 5-3, after a loss at Mentor last Friday night, 42-16.

Solon’s JV and Freshman squads were both defeated by Mentor last week. The JV’s lost 35-16 and the Freshman were defeated by a score of 28-25. This week, both teams will be in action against Twinsburg. The Freshman team will travel to Twinsburg on Thursday for a 4:30p game and the JV’s will also travel to Twinsburg on Saturday for a 10:00a kickoff.

The Solon Comets will continue Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division play on Friday night at Mentor. The 5-2 Comets take on the 7-0 Mentor Cardinals in a 7:00p game. Mentor comes off of a 21-14 win at Brunswick last week. The Comets fell short to Hudson, 17-10, last week at Stewart Field.

Solon’s Freshman and JV squads both got stopped short against Hudson. The JV’s were defeated 22-20 and the Freshman team lost 15-8. This week, both teams will be in action against Mentor along with the Varsity Comets. The Freshman are scheduled for a 4:30p kick on Thursday afternoon at Stewart Field. The JV’s will also be home this week as they take on Mentor at 10:00p on Saturday.

The Solon Comets will return to Stewart Field on Friday night to host the undefeated Hudson Explorers. The Comets come off a 14-7 defeat at Mayfield last Thursday and currently sit with a 5-1 record as Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division play resumes.

Solon’s JV squad was also defeated by Mayfield, 5-2. The Freshman team continues to role as they took down the Wildcats, 28.14. Both teams will be in action this week at Hudson. The JV’s have a Saturday morning game and the Freshman will play on Thursday afternoon.

The 2014 Solon Comets have finished the first half of the regular season campaign and now will take their undefeated record on the road to Mayfield. Kickoff against the 4-1 Wildcats will be Thursday night at 7:00p. Last week, Solon defeated Valley Forge, 45-13, in front of a Homecoming crowd at Stewart Field. Last Friday’s win marks the 100th for Head Coach Jim McQuaide in his twelve years at Solon High School.

This week, the JV squad will take on Mayfield in an afternoon game on Friday. Kickoff is set for 4:00p at Stewart Field. The JV’s defeated Valley Forge this past week, 30-0. The Freshman Comets continue to role and will take on Mayfield on Wednesday at Solon. Kickoff is set for 4:30p. Last week, the Freshman team went to Valley Forge and won, 39-0.

After a trip to Strongsville last week, the Solon Comets come back to Stewart Field for a Homecoming matchup with Valley Forge on Friday night. Solon (4-0, 1-0) will host Valley Forge (0-4) in a Northeast Ohio Conference crossover game. The Comets defeated previously unbeaten Strongsville, 19-7, to sit at 4-0 on the year for the first time since 2011. Friday night’s win was the sixth consecutive victory over the Mustangs and the tenth since 2003.

Solon’s JV squad was also victorious over Strongsville, 24-21. They will travel to Valley Forge on Saturday for a 10:00a game. The Freshman were again winners and beat Strongsville 16-8. They will play Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00p.

The Solon Comets defeated Willoughby South last week, 51-27 to put themselves at 3-0 on the year. Solon will travel to Strongsville to begin Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division play against the Mustangs. Strongsville also enters the fourth week of the season with a 3-0 record. The Mustangs have defeated Lake Catholic, Cleveland Heights, and Berea-Midpark.

Solon’s Freshman squad was victorious over Willoughby South, 26-6. The JV’s dropped their game to the Rebels, 12-0. The Freshman will play at Stewart Field against Strongsville on Thursday. The JV team will also host Strongsville at Stewart Field. The JV game will be played on Saturday.

The Solon Comets return to Stewart Field on Friday night to host the Willoughby South Rebels in the final non-conference game on the 2014 regular season schedule. Solon enters the third week of play with a 2-0 record, having just defeated Shaker Heights, 38-14. Willoughby South is on the hunt for their first win after having lost to NDCL in Week One and Mayfield in Week Two.

This week’s game will be shown in tape-delay on Friday night at 11:00p on SportsTime Ohio.

The Solon Freshman defeated Shaker Heights last week, 27-8, and will travel to Willoughby South on Thursday for a 4:30p matchup.

The JV Comets will play Shaker Heights on Monday (9/8) and then visit Willoughby South on Saturday for 10:00a kickoff.

The Solon Comets kicked off the 2014 season with a win over Kenston. 20 first quarter points was all the team needed to lock down a 20-14 victory. The JV and Freshman squads also defeated Kenston, giving all three Solon teams a sweep. The Freshman won by a score of 47-0 and the JV team put up 41 points while only giving up 6.

This week, the Varsity squad will be in action Saturday afternoon at 1:00p at Shaker Heights. The Freshman will play on Thursday at 4:30p at Stewart Field. Finally, the Junior Varsity team will finish up with the Raiders on Monday (Sept. 8) at 4:00p at Solon.
