Solon came out hitting and scoring to jump to an early 2-0 lead. Confroy lead off with a double, Natalia Kontul followed with a triple to knock in Kristen. Carly Simecek then produced a suicide squeeze bunt to make it 2-0, 1 of her 2 hits on the day.
Superb defense kept the Lady Comets in the lead until the 5th when Mentor tied it with 2 unearned runs. The tie score remained until the game went to extra innings. Solon's dream ended in the bottom of the 9th with their 3rd unearned run to advance to the Regional Finals.
The Lady Comets finish at 21-8, the most wins by Solon Comet softball in 17 years.
Thanks to Coach Fonner and her dedicated Coaching Staff. We wish the best to graduating Seniors Carly Simecek, Heather Halleen, Morgan Gersey and Gabby
Lucarelli.
