Where Are They Now?

  • AJ Hicks - North Carolina

AJ Hicks took sixth place in the men’s weight throw at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. Hicks’ performance earned him FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN honors. “I could not be prouder of AJ,” head coach Harlis Meaders said. “He did a wonderful job of keeping his composure in a very difficult situation after fouling his first two throws. On the biggest stage he was able to answer the challenge and earn his position as a first team All American. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to share this journey with him. He is an outstanding student, a wonderful young man, and a Tar Heel.” WAY TO GO COMET!

  • Anthony Collica - OSU

Anthony Collica earns All-American honors at the 2016 NCAA National Wrestling Championships this past weekend in New York City. No. 11 seed Anthony Collica electrified the crowd at 149 pounds as he stuck Kent State's Mike DePalma, the No. 10 seed, as the second-period buzzer sounded in the consolation semifinals. He later faced No. 3 Lavion Mayes, who he earlier defeated in a tight quarterfinals match, for third place. The two, once again, kept it a close match, but a late first-period takedown from Mayes ultimately gave him a 3-2 win. Collica finishes his junior season an NCAA fourth-place finisher with All-America honors, six wins over ranked opponents and an overall 29-9 record. The breakout season for the Cowboy will put him in the hunt for 100 career wins next season as he sits at 86-29 overall. WAY TO GO COMET!
